Ways to Encourage and Inspire your Child

Going to school is an exciting time…. but also an overwhelming one. They’re making new friends, experiencing new things, and adjusting to new routines. It’s important to give extra support and encouragement, but how do we do this despite tight schedules made even tighter because of school bus scrambles and homework struggles?

Praise your child’s effort. Gush over her improved spelling and point out the progress that may not be reflected in the grade.

Ask what she learned in school today. Make it a family ritual that every dinner time she has to share something she picked up form the classroom. This encourages curiosity and love for learning.

Make time for homework. Setting aside a specific time and place for homework creates a comforting sense of stability and builds good studying habits. You can also use this time to “study” next to her, reading a book or going through papers. That way she knows that even adults have homework – and she’ll like feeling like an adult.

Your Bone Matter

When you hit the age of 30, you may become a bride, a first-time mom or sit on top of the corporate ladder. While your life gets busy, your bones take a break. At 30, your skeleton enters the equilibrium phase. It's when the same amount of bone or created and taken away. Thus, bone loss begins. That's why you should start calcium banking as early as possible.

Drink plenty of milk or take a vitamins with calcium. Manganese, Phosphorus, Magnesium and Vitamin C are the bone building and bone-strengthening nutrients that we need to fight bone loss or Osteoporosis. There is no sign of osteoporosis until the disease is already there and results in broken bone. Keep your bone healthy and stand straight.

Brain Food: To Make you Smarter

As young students, most of us probably gorged on fish the day before an exam to build up our brain. Is that old urban legend true? And then there are the ads; where other food promoted as turning kids into young Einsteins, it’s not surprising that we can get confused about what to believe. Can certain foods really make us smarter?

Brain development, especially for the growing child, is always attributed to eating a complete and healthy diet. There is no one particular food that, if you eaten in more quantities, will instantly make you smarter.

However, fish such as tuna, sardines, mackerel and salmon are providing protection for the brain and the heart because they are especially rich in protein, essential fatty acids and other vitamins.

Fish is good for the brain. However, most scientific studies show the long-term benefits of eating fish. It’s not about snacking on tuna one time to do well on a test the next day.

Make sure your child eats a healthful and balanced diet. It is more important to meet the bodys natural nutritional requirements.

Eating smart is a major factor, but lifestyle and good health is what affects the brain performance.

As she Grow Older

My daughter MARCHA started pre-school this June. It’s a big milestone for both of us. She’s in school now; all mothers understand how that tugs at our heart. On the other hand, I'm so proud of how smart and independent shes becoming. Each day she learn something new, coming home with lots of stars on her hand and a funny story to make us laugh. But each day, she grow little older, a little more like an adult and less like a baby.

As Marcha grow older it becomes more and more important to me to show how much I love her and I want her to know that I’m always at her side. She’s maybe more independent now but I’m still “mommy” to her giving support and affection and making sure she have the very best.

Breast Feeding – Baby’s Breast Friend

The best way to address the (immune system) problem is to encourage breastfeeding because breast milk has everything; it has important nutrients for the growth and development of the baby.

Breast milk has antibodies that help protect the baby form developing infections. It also provides friendly organisms like Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli. These are the probiotics the baby needs in his gut to develop a strong immune response.

So if you happen to be one of those moms requiring a Tender Love and Care (TLC), always keep in mind that your TLC baby will need your extra care. Breastfeeding is the best way to nourish and protect your baby. Breast milk does not only provide the nutrients your baby needs for optimum growth, it also supplies him with antibodies. Breast milk also contains friendly bacteria your baby needs to grow healthy and strong. It’s the vital TLC every C-section baby needs.

MY BEST GIFT

My birthday last April 09 was really a happy day. It really meant so much to me. I’m bursting to share with you that the best birthday gift of all was the one I got from my daughter.

I came home late as always, tired from a long day work, and found my daughter, Marcha, still up waiting for me.

She happily hugged me and excitedly presented her gift. She had drawn lots of pictures on a dozen post-its and posted them all over the gift wrapper.

I even found a P500.00 bill inserted in the paper (with drawings). My husband explained that he gave her the money to spend for herself, but my daughter insisted on putting it in her gift for me. My husband didn’t sleep all day and was problematic on what to give. She decided to draw a family picture with a smiling face.

I practically choked on my happy tears! I got a lot of nice stuff for my birthday, but this year was the best, because this was the first time ever that my 4 year old daughter gave me a birthday gift.

I’m super touched. I’m having the entire gift framed, including the money.

Being a mom is truly the best! I hope you guys, especially the ones with kids, experience the same happy moment as I did. I’m not a perfect mother, but I’m so thankful GOD still thought I deserved to have a kid as sweet and loving as MARCHA.

Are you a good example to your child?

Children learn what they see on their environment. Children learn their attitudes, beliefs, even eating habits and physical activities from watching and interacting with parents, brother or sisters and other caregivers. They explore the world by imitating “grown-up” behavior, trying to please us. Role modeling is one of the most powerful and effective ways to teach our child about their behavior.

Before Martha's Birthday

We all know that birthday is the most memorable and wonderful events in our life. Generally parents are the most excited when the birthday of their child is coming. My daughter name Martha Chayane celebrated her 5th birthday last October 11, 2008. And it was very tiring but much enjoyed moment. I personally do plan on what food to serve and what is the theme. Since my baby’s favorite character is princes she choose the disneys pricess character. My workmate help me to make a very beautiful invitation for free and it looks so amazing.. Thanks for that Abet…. On the day before the celebration my friend name charlott also helps me go shopping; we buy groceries, balloons, and give aways. We went to starcandy a popular place where you can find different party needs, we saw this very large poster and it came to my mind the idea of my baby the princess character and I immediately buy it. It was very exhausting but it was really fun to do shopping for your daughters birthday needs.
